Twisted Souls. Where the past and the future collide.

“I’m tryin’ to help ya. The only enemy you got is
the one in yer head. Whatcha hidin’ in there?”

Appelton is a town that doesn't exist. Or does it...?

Adam had driven this highway hundreds of
times. He should have been home hours ago.
Now, he was lost. There was no traffic in either
direction, and to make matters worse, his cell
phone had stopped working.

The only sign of civilization was a rickety old
signpost pointing toward a little town called
Appelton. A town that Adam would soon discover
he couldn't leave. Ever.

Unless...

Twisted Souls eBook Nancy Lee Parish

Twisted Souls is an amazing supernatural/suspense/mystery that reeled me in from the beginning and didn't want to let go.

The story starts with a man named Adam on his way to meet his brother and sister to settle up on how to take care of their recently deceased mother's estate. However, on the way to meet them, Adam finds himself in unfamiliar surroundings on a road he's been down many times before. Thinking himself lost, Adam pulls down a road leading to a town called Appelton. Appelton, as the book's blurb states, is "A town that Adam would soon discover he couldn't leave. Ever."

Now, I don't want to give away any of the brilliantly crafted plot, so I'm going to have to just leave it at that and just say that the trip into Appelton is definitely worth your time. The atmosphere of Twisted Souls draws you in and traps you in much the same way that Appelton does to Adam. The town is full of intriguing characters, each a little spooky in their own right. The town itself is its own character, full of mystery, charm, and good old fashioned creepiness.

Honestly, at first I thought I knew exactly where Twisted Souls was going, only to have the rug pulled from under me a half dozen times or so. The mystery builds, layer upon layer, leaving you wondering what is real and what isn't. Are the townsfolk of Appelton benevolent or sinister? Why was Adam drawn to Appelton? Will he ever escape, or is his fate tied in with the mysterious town?

N. Lee Parish has really created a unique story with Twisted Souls, one full of interesting characters and unexpected plot twists. This is a fairly short novel, and given you won't want to put it down, you'll find yourself at the end before you know it, wishing you could have spent a little more time in Appelton.

Twisted Souls eBook Nancy Lee Parish Reviews

Reality or not? Even when I finished the book I wasn't sure. Loved how the story is woven and told.
Loved the story. This ghost story is well written and a quick read with lots of twists and turns. Once you start, you don't want to stop reading.
I loved this book until the very end. The ending was bad though. It was very interesting trying to figure out where Adam was & who the people were that he was meeting. However, it just ended abruptly with no resolution.
Enjoyable departure from the author of the Dragon Blade series, this book is a good old fashion ghost story combined with a little paranormal suspense thriller twist. Wondering what exactly twisted souls are, how they become twisted, and how they can be untwisted propels the reader forward as the strangeness gets ever stranger. Suspenseful, intriguing, and thought provoking read. Would make a fine TV script, think Twilight Zone meets Gun Smoke. Great entertainment.
Loved the story. I had a hard time putting it down because I needed to know how it was going to end!
Twisted Souls is a classic ghost story set near Gettysburg. I was really interested in the psychological levels explored in the story, but it is subtle and underlies the plot and action. Those who have read the Dragonblade series should prepare themselves for something entirely different in Twisted Souls. It doesn't have the rousing winner ending that we are used to in Nancy Lee Parish's fantasy series, but I think the ending fits. It is much more true to the classic ghost story that would be told around the campfire.

For those who love a ghost story, I don't think this book will let you down.
I thought this was a great story! it was a bit hard to wrap my head around at times, but it was very interesting and I thought the author had a terrific imagination. I didn't like the use of the f-bomb though, I thought the story would've been much better without it.
